Welcome to Psychology

  1. You will find this course both thought provoking and challenging. You are in this class because you are interested in what motivates people to think, feel, and behave the way they do. We will take a look at a variety of ways of explaining human thought and behaviour. Through readings, film, and discussion, we will explore human thought, motivation and action.

Unlike any other Psychology class at Claremont, we are going to utilize a variety of technologies to assist us in our learning. Every Friday we are going to come to the computer lab to discuss, create, and comment on the blog. It is my goal that we make this blog an amazing resource for us and for future Psychology classes. In addition, we are going to create some movies that will utilize aspects of Psychoanalytic thought. But before we delve into the depths of other technologies we are first going to get to know how to use a blog.

A blog, otherwise known as a web log, is similar to a website in that it is hosted on the Internet and has images, videos, links and information listed daily. Unlike a website through, the most current post is always at the top of the page. To find older posts you must scroll down the page. In addition, it is a little more interactive than your typical website. You as the user is able to comment, post, and transform the blog!

For the first assignment I'm going to ask you to complete the following tasks:

    1. Create a new post and put your 150 character tweet into the post. In the same post add an image that you think best represents who you are and embed a video that you like on youtube.
    2. Next scroll down to the first post on the page and add your answer to what you think psychology is and list a goal of psychology by adding a comment.
    3. Finally try and find 1 good link that we should add to our blog that might help us in our study of psychology. E-mail me the link at mturnbull@sd63.bc.ca

After you have completed these three tasks you are finished!!! Great work!!!
